Director (Global) Environmental Health and Safety
REMOTE Opportunity with a global corporation. Person can live anywhere in the country. MUST HAVE GLOBAL EXPERIENCE. Travel is 25-30%.
The EHS Director is responsible for the strategic vision, implementation, and continuous improvement of all environmental, health, and safety programs across manufacturing operations. This leader ensures a safe workplace for all employees, manages regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, etc.), and fosters a culture of safety excellence that aligns with production goals and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute a multi-year EHS strategy, including setting long-term goals, budgeting, and performance tracking (KPIs).
Regulatory Compliance: Oversee global or regional compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Risk Mitigation & Audits: Lead regular site audits, hazard assessments, and risk evaluations to prevent workplace injuries and environmental damage.
Incident Management: Direct thorough investigations into significant accidents or near-misses, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to implement permanent corrective actions.
Culture & Training: Champion a safety-first culture through engaging employee training programs, behavioral-based safety (BBS) initiatives, and cross-functional leadership.
Sustainability: Drive environmental stewardship programs focused on waste reduction, carbon footprint management, and energy efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related science/technical field is required. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred for director-level roles.
Experience: 10–15 years of progressive EHS leadership in complex manufacturing environments (e.g., chemicals, automotive, aerospace). Multi-site or global management experience is typically required.
Certifications: Professional credentials such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
