Caregiver for Woman with Autism in her mid-twenties
Job Description: 1:1 caregiving position to support a friendly and kind autistic young woman in Manhattan. RBT/BCBA Experience a plus!
Location: New York City; Midtown East
Pay: $20.10 per hour. Staff will initially be paid privately and then be expected to onboard with the client's benefit agency (PPL).
Schedule: Must be available for Monday and Friday shift
Monday: 10am - 6pm
Tuesday: 2pm - 6pm (added bonus if candidate is available)
Friday: 9am - 5pm
Job Requirements:
Willingness to be flexible and creative to support adults with various needs and challenges
Experience working with people with minimal language and non-speakers
Experience as a caregiver for a young adult with disabilities and occasional challenging behaviors
Ability to walk at a rapid pace for 20+ minutes with client
Ability to navigate Manhattan to accompany adult to various activities
Ability to remain calm under pressure and experience using de-escalation techniques
Strong communication skills
Job Responsibilities: Your responsibilities may include some or all of the following tasks:
Provide one-on-one care for a young adult with autism, assisting with hygiene, daily living skills, and support during meals.
Act as a travel companion, helping navigate the community and attending appointments if needed.
Support self-care practices, including dressing, bathing, hair care, and tooth brushing.
Administer medications as per the schedule.
Engage the client in activities like drawing, music, and puzzles.
Collaborate with therapists, caregivers, and family for consistent care.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
