To learn more, visit www.sealedair.com.Position SummaryThe Electrical & PLC Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing electrical control systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that support the continuous paper mill operations at our Reading, PA and Modena, PA sites. This role ensures maximum equipment reliability, process efficiency, and safety compliance across production areas such as pulping, paper machines, finishing, and utilities.ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems (e.g., Rockwell Automation)Support and improve Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)Diagnosing and resolving electrical and automation issues in production equipmentDevelop and modify control logic, ladder diagrams, and function block programmingLead and support capital projects, including system upgrades, installations, and commissioningWork closely with operations and maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve reliabilityPerform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actionsEnsure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards (NFPA, OSHA), and mill policiesMaintain accurate documentation of control systems, wiring diagrams, and software backupsSupport predictive and preventive maintenance programs QualificationsHands-on experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley) requiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred3–7+ years of industrial experience (paper, pulp, or heavy manufacturing preferred)Strong understanding of motor controls, drives (VFDs), instrumentation, and power distributionExperience with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus)Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDsFamiliarity with safety systems and standards (e.g., NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout procedures)Knowledge of advanced process control (APC) or optimization systemsExperience with drive systems and automation platforms from ABB or similarProject management experience (budgeting, scheduling, vendor coordination)Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification preferredSkillsTroubleshooting and problem-solving in real-time production environmentsStrong communication and cross-functional collaborationAbility to work in a 24/7 manufacturing environment (including on-call support)Attention to detail with a focus on safety and reliability Work EnvironmentIndustrial setting with exposure to noise, heat, humidity, and moving machineryMay require climbing, confined space entry, and use of PPEOccasional off-hours or emergency support required Pay TransparencySalary Range: $102,600-$176,755The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs.
