Job Description Must be located in Virginia with a valid VA Driver's License + RBT Certification Job Title: Registered Behavior Technician/Behavior Technician Job Summary: The behavior technician plays a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals who require behavior intervention services. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), they implement behavior intervention plans designed to improve the lives of clients with behavioral challenges. This role involves direct, one-on-one interaction with clients, focusing on increasing desired behaviors and reducing problematic behaviors through structured interventions. Key Responsibilities: 1. Implementation of Behavior Plans: Implement behavior intervention plans developed by the BCBA to address specific behavioral goals of clients. 2. Data Collection and Analysis: Accurately record data on client behavior during sessions to track progress and outcomes of interventions. 3. Behavioral Support: Provide direct support to clients during scheduled sessions, utilizing positive reinforcement and other approved behavior modification techniques. 4. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the BCBA and other team members to ensure consistency in the implementation of behavior plans and discuss client progress. 5. Documentation: Maintain thorough and organized documentation of client progress, behavior incidents, and any changes in behavior plans. 6. Training and Education: Assist in teaching new skills and behaviors to clients as outlined in the behavior plan, and provide training to caregivers or family members on implementation techniques. Required Skills and Qualifications: - Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require a bachelor's degree in psychology, education, or a related field. - Certifications: * CPR/BLS Certification: Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) is required. * RBT Certification: Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is preferred or the willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe. - Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges is preferred. - Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and other team members. Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude are crucial. - Analytical Skills: Strong observational and analytical skills to accurately collect and interpret behavioral data. - Physical Stamina: Ability to physically support and interact with clients as needed. Working Conditions: This position could be home-based or at our NEW clinic in Springfield, VA! Career Path: Behavior technicians often use their experience as a stepping stone to advance in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA). With additional education and experience, they may pursue certification as a BCBA or other roles within the behavioral health field.
