Senior Java Developer – Application Security & Code Remediation (Remote | Contract)

Location: 100% Remote (U.S.-based candidates only) Duration: May 2026 – August 2026 (Extension Possible) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST Hours: Up to ~560 hoursOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with a strong background in application security and vulnerability remediation to support enterprise-level systems in a large-scale, data-driven environment.This role focuses on identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities in Java applications while maintaining system performance and functionality. You will work within an Agile SDLC, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality code for critical reporting systems.Key ResponsibilitiesApplication Security & RemediationAnalyze, identify, and remediate security vulnerabilities in Java/J2EE applicationsAddress findings from static code analysis, dependency scanning, and penetration testingEnsure fixes maintain application performance, stability, and functionalityDevelopment & TestingPerform code enhancements, debugging, and secure coding practicesDevelop and execute unit tests to validate fixes and ensure code qualitySupport secure SDLC practices and contribute to release cyclesAgile CollaborationParticipate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)Work closely with developers, QA, and security teamsCollaborate with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and reliability of deliverablesDocumentationDocument code changes, remediation steps, and technical processesMaintain clear and concise development artifactsRequired Qualifications8+ years of hands-on experience in Java / J2EE development8+ years of experience remediating application security vulnerabilitiesStrong experience with:Static code analysis tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify, Checkmarx)Secure coding practices and OWASP principles8+ years of experience with unit testing frameworks8+ years working in Agile environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience with enterprise-scale systems and high-volume data applicationsFamiliarity with security testing tools and methodologiesStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsWork Environment100% remote within the United StatesStandard business hours with occasional off-hours support as neededNo travel required unless pre-approved
