Software Engineer – Front Office (Trading Tools) STS Digital (www.stsdigital.io) is a leading regulated digital asset trading firm specializing in OTC trading and market making. While trading is headquartered in Bermuda, technology development is provided by a vibrant global engineering team.We are looking for a Front Office Software Engineer to work directly alongside our Head of Trading, building the tools, systems, and automation that traders rely on day to day. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role: you'll sit close to the business, turn trader requirements into working software fast, and plug into the broader tech team's sprint cycle to contribute to shared platform features. The position will report to the Head of Trading and Ops Technology.Primary ResponsibilitiesPartner directly with the Head of Trading to understand workflows, identify friction points, and rapidly design, build, and ship tools that improve trading efficiency and decision-making.Build bespoke trading utilities, dashboards, and automation, from quick internal scripts to production-grade services, prioritizing speed of iteration without compromising reliability.Contribute to the broader engineering team's roadmap: participate in sprint planning, pick up feature and platform work outside of front-office-specific projects, and help maintain shared codebases and standards.Integrate with internal trading platforms, pricing/risk systems, and market data feeds to surface real-time information where traders need it.Take initiative in spotting opportunities for new tools or process improvements before being asked, this role rewards engineers who act, not just execute tickets.Actively use AI-assisted development tools and workflows to accelerate build times, reduce boilerplate, and raise code quality; help bring these practices to the rest of the team.Investigate and resolve production issues affecting trading tools promptly, given the direct impact on desk operations.Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Helm) alongside the wider engineering team.Support deployment and troubleshooting within AWS.Expected Qualifications3+ years' experience in software engineering; Python or C# preferred (language-agnostic in principle, we care more about engineering judgment than any one stack).Prior experience in financial markets, trading technology, or building tools for a trading desk (OTC, RFQ, or otherwise).A track record of proactively identifying problems and shipping solutions without heavy direction.Demonstrated use of AI coding tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot, or similar) as part of your regular workflow, and enthusiasm for pushing that further.Strong problem-solving skills and a structured, pragmatic approach to design and debugging.Comfortable working directly with non-technical stakeholders (traders) — able to translate business needs into technical solutions and explain technical constraints back in plain language.Ability to work US trading-desk hours / significant overlap with US Eastern time.Exposure to cloud and containerized environments (ideally AWS and Kubernetes/EKS).Fluent in English, both written and spoken.Beneficial Experience with React or another frontend framework for building internal dashboards/tools.Familiarity with FIX, REST, or WebSocket APIs.Experience with real-time data and low-latency considerations.Understanding of order management systems (OMS) and trade lifecycle workflows.Experience with PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB.More InfoThis role sits at the intersection of trading and technology. You'll spend meaningful time embedded with traders, understanding what they need almost before they can fully articulate it, and translating that into working software quickly. At the same time, you're a full member of the engineering team: contributing to sprint work, code reviews, and shared systems alongside colleagues building the OTC, RFQ, and platform tooling. We're looking for someone who is genuinely self-directed: comfortable owning a problem end-to-end, comfortable with ambiguity, and proactive about finding and fixing things rather than waiting for a spec. Strong AI-tool fluency is a real differentiator here, we expect this role to build faster and better by making heavy, deliberate use of AI in the development workflow, not as a nice-to-have but as core practice. Our Tech StackBackend: C#, PythonFrontend: ReactDatabases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDBInfrastructure: AWS (EKS, EC2)Version Control & CI/CD: GitHubThis role offers direct, daily impact on how traders work, building the tools that shape their day-to-day performance, while staying connected to a broader engineering team building STS Digital's world-class digital asset trading platform.
