ControllerRole SummaryWe are seeking a seasoned Controller to own the end-to-end accounting function and build scalable financial processes as the company continues to expand. This is a critical leadership role that will partner closely with the CFO on financial reporting, compliance, M&A readiness, and IPO preparation activities. You will directly manage one Staff Accountant and play a pivotal role in establishing the financial infrastructure needed for a high-growth AI/SaaS organization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including consolidation, accruals, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial statement preparation.Oversee technical accounting matters, including complex revenue arrangements, stock-based compensation, and capitalization policies common in SaaS/tech companies.Manage external financial audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filings; build and maintain strong relationships with auditors and advisors.Drive readiness for public company reporting (SOX compliance, SEC filings) - experience with this transition is highly valued.Support M&A activity, including due diligence, integration planning, and deal accounting.Develop and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable processes to support rapid growth.Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to leadership on key metrics (ARR, burn rate, gross margins, runway, etc.).Manage and mentor the Staff Accountant, fostering a high-performance finance team; identify opportunities to automate and streamline workflows.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, People Ops, Product) on contracts, equity administration, and strategic initiatives.Prepare board and investor reporting packages.Qualifications (Required)CPA license strongly preferred.7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a public company or 1+ full year in a company actively preparing for an IPO.Deep experience in software/SaaS or technology services environments, including SaaS revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and subscription metrics.Strong technical accounting skills (GAAP) and hands-on experience with financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar).Proven ability to build and improve accounting processes in a scaling organization.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.Experience managing or mentoring junior accounting staff.
