Systems Engineer - Modeling and Simulation (AFSIM)
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support advanced military simulation, modeling, and analysis efforts for critical Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role directly supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, contributing to mission-critical initiatives that ensure U.S. Navy multi-domain superiority.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in AFSIM-based modeling and simulation, Electro Magnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO), and Nuclear Triad-related mission areas, while collaborating with National Laboratories, DoD Warfare Centers, and industry partners.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert-level support in AFSIM framework-based model development, integration, and analysis
Develop and integrate Electro Magnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO) and Electronic Warfare (EW) models using AFSIM and supporting software tools
Perform exploitation, attack, and protection/survivability analyses, including:
Threat modeling
Flight path and mission scenario development
EW and EMS effects modeling
Support Nuclear Triad modeling and simulation across:
Land-Based Strategic Deterrence
Sea-Based Strategic Deterrence
Airborne Strategic Deterrence
Conduct constructive model evaluation, integration, validation, and verification (V&V)
Develop assessment reports and technical documentation supporting EMSO and Nuclear Triad M&S efforts
Collaborate across organizations including:
National Laboratories (e.g., Sandia National Laboratories)
DoD Warfare Centers (e.g., NSWC Crane, Navy Modeling and Simulation Office)
Industry partners (e.g., MTSI and other defense contractors)
Support rapid prototyping efforts and contribute to design engineering when applicable
Participate in project planning, execution, and schedule development in support of program milestones
Required Qualifications
Extensive hands-on experience with AFSIM and other modeling and simulation tools (e.g., STK, NGTS, Builder)
Proficiency in Python and C; experience with MATLAB
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
Strong background in systems engineering and model integration
Demonstrated experience in validation and verification of simulation models
Active TS/SCI clearance
Security+ (CE) or other DoD 8570 / CWF-approved certification
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
Proven experience with project management and schedule development
Ability to work effectively with government customers, National Laboratories, and industry partners
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $70.00 - $95.00 per hour
