Logistics Associate
Position SummaryUnder direct supervision, controls the flow of material through the logistics department. Responsible for the storage and distribution of WIP and finished goods in the Logistics Department.PREREQUISITESSafety training including training in the importance of machine guarding and safety equipment.Knowledge of the lock out/tag out procedure.Knowledge and application of plant and environmental safety concepts.Support Seaway’s emphasis of the team concept.Proper lifting techniques.Orientation.Primary Functions/ResponsibilitiesMeets or exceeds department productivity expectations. Able to set up and operate packaging lines.Remains flexible regarding job assignments.Operates Plex for daily operations.Learns and follows all processes and work instructions that pertain to the packaging area including bin cleaning and station cleaning to ensure that we do not mix parts.Removes finished goods from the audit area and stores in designated area.Responsible for other activities as requested by the Logistics Coordinators and Logistics Manager.Makes boxes as required.Operates lift truck and stand up lift truck. Possesses lift truck license.Verifies that all customer requirements are met prior to shipment. Checks labels, number of containers and other information against the packing list.Places all outgoing shipments in the correct staging area.Maintains work area in a clean and orderly fashion.Is trained with and becomes familiar with IS09001/IATF16949 procedures relative to material handling, including; SBP-05 Packaging, Labeling and Shipping Process. Knows who to contact if a problem arises.Follows all safety rules, procedures and regulations. Understands our Environmental Policy, our significant environmental aspects, their contribution to our Environmental Management System and the implications of not conforming to the Environmental Management System. Understands our Quality Policy, our relevant quality objectives, their contribution to the effectiveness of our Quality Management System and the implications of not conforming to our Quality Management System.Education/Work Experience RequiredHigh school degree or GED equivalentPhysical RequirementsLifting and transferring of a variety of material weighing up to forty pounds.
