Work Schedule: 15-20 hours per week; work hours include early mornings, late nights and weekends; shifts based on operational need of the organization. OVERVIEWEstablished in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 26,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI employees exhibit our values of integrity, honor, dedication, loyalty, and respect in every interaction with each other, our students, the campus community, and guests of Cal Poly Pomona.The Bronco Student Center (BSC) Operations team is one of the largest departments in all ASI. Operations consist of two teams that oversee games room, building and patron safety and providing outstanding customer service to our patrons. Operation's primary function is to keep the building open and operational but also plays a large role in enhancing the facility through operating the Games Room, event support and as well as improving the overall functionality of the building. Operations provides an excellent opportunity to be a part of a large community of fellow student employees as well as develop a strong network through day-to-day interactions with colleagues and patrons.POSITION DEFINITIONUnder direct supervision from the BSC Operations Manager, the BSC Operations Attendant provides frontline services in support of daily operations in the Bronco Student Center (BSC) including, but not limited to, event setup assistance and breakdown, games room equipment checkout, and floor support. This position works on campus. Must be available to attend mandatory department-wide and position-specific training.ESSENTIAL DUTIESAssists with facilitating the BSC's day-to-day operationsAssists with implementation of operational strategiesEnforces rules and regulations regarding BSC useMaintains Games Room and BSC equipment and furniture functionality, cleanliness and operationProvides emergency care and treatment as required in a calm and effective mannerPresents a professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer serviceReports basic facility maintenance and custodial needsCompletes appropriate activity reportsAssist with Conference and Events with event supportPerforms other related duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSAmerican Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Administering Emergency Oxygen certification (Employment contingent on obtaining certification within 30 days of hire, training provided by ASI)Experience working in customer support, recreation, or similar environment, preferredAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situationsAbility to follow routine verbal and written instructionsAbility to effectively communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writingAbility to maintain professional work conductAbility to make independent decisions and make recommendationsAbility to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively without close supervisionDemonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population and campus communityAbility to operate a computer workstation using word processing, spreadsheet and other computer applications in useAbility to successfully pass a background screening as an offer of employment is contingent on background clearancePOSITION SENSITIVITYBased on the duties and responsibilities of this position, this position has been designated to be a sensitive position with access to sensitive data. In addition, student employees must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) and 4.0 units (graduate), international student employees must be enrolled in a minimum of 12.0 units (undergraduate) and 6.0 units (graduate) at the end of the add-drop period. Student employees are required to have a minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing with the University. Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire. Exceptions to the unit load requirement are allowed during the summer term and for students who have applied for graduation for the current term.WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear; manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and verbal communication; use of office equipment: telephones, calculator, copier and fax.
