Terms of Employment• Direct Hire• This is a hybrid schedule 2–3 days per week on-site in Suitland, MD• Active TS/SCI clearanceOverviewOur Client is standing up a small, elite development team to deliver cloud-native applications that directly support client operations. This is a focused, high-impact team where every engineer’s contribution is visible and consequential. We are looking for a Full Stack Developer who combines deep Python expertise with genuine frontend craftsmanship, thrive in classified environments, and bring the kind of disciplined engineering mindset that produces secure, maintainable systems under real operational pressure. The team is of 2–3 developers reporting to the technical lead.Responsibilities• Full-Stack Application Development• Design and deliver end-to-end applications, managing the entire lifecycle from database schema design and API layers to user-facing frontends.• Maintain and scale established platform applications while simultaneously building, testing, and standing up pilot solutions and custom MVPs for emerging requirements.• Develop clean, component-based user interfaces (using React) optimized for operational workflows and mission-critical daily use.• Build and extend robust API gateways and backend logic (using Django) to support seamless data flow and integration.• Data & Infrastructure Management• Architect and optimize modern database schemas (PostgreSQL), including writing efficient migration scripts to transition legacy data.• Implement secure authentication and authorization protocols (e.g., Keycloak) across new and existing services.• Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) utilizing Terraform to deploy and manage environments.• DevSecOps & Security• Deploy and maintain applications across multiple AWS partitions and varying classification levels.• Integrate security-first design principles into every level of the stack, ensuring strict adherence to the unique constraints of classified environments.• Utilize modern CI/CD pipelines and source control (GitLab) to ensure continuous, secure, and reliable software delivery.• Innovation & Teamwork• Leverage AI-assisted development tooling as a standard part of the daily workflow to accelerate delivery and optimize code quality.• Collaborate fluidly across the full technical stack, balancing backend performance (e.g., query indexing) with frontend polish and user experience.Required Skills & Experience• Advanced Python Development: Deep expertise in Python, including asynchronous programming (asyncio) in production environments.• Web Frameworks: Strong proficiency with Django (or equivalent frameworks) and Pydantic-driven data validation.• API Architecture: Strong understanding of API design patterns, specifically Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architectures.• Modern JavaScript Frameworks: Proven ability to build polished, responsive, and production-ready user interfaces using React or Next.js.• UI/UX & State Management: Expertise in clean component hierarchy design, effective application state management, and user-centric experience design.• Relational Databases: Robust skills in PostgreSQL (Amazon Aurora experience is a plus), including complex schema design and performance tuning.• Data Engineering: Experience writing migration scripts and managing ETL tasks to transform structured and unstructured data into clean, relational models.• AWS Cloud Ecosystem: Hands-on experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting applications across core AWS services (EKS, Aurora, S3, IAM, VPC, KMS).• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in reading, writing, and maintaining Terraform modules.• DevSecOps Tooling: Ability to interpret and act upon automated scanning outputs, including static analysis, dependency scanning, container scanning, and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) verification.• Authentication & Authorization: Solid understanding of Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, JWT-based sessions, and certificate-based authentication (CAC/PIV).• Secure Development Practices: Mastery of least-privilege patterns, secure secrets management, and implementing role-based access control (RBAC).• Compliance Frameworks: Familiarity with building software for STIG-hardened and FIPS-validated environments.• AI-Assisted Development: High proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted development tooling to accelerate velocity, ensure consistency, and optimize code quality.• Extreme Ownership: A self-directed, proactive approach to development; takes full accountability for code quality, project commitments, and problem-solving.• Meticulous Attention to Detail: A security-first mindset naturally inclined to catch edge cases in auth flows, scope precise IAM policies, and deliver clean, well-tested work.• Clear & Assertive Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, ask questions early, and constructively push back when requirements or architectures lack clarity.• Domain Adaptability: High intellectual curiosity with the agility to work across unfamiliar domains; familiarity with DoD mission systems or Intelligence Community (IC) environments is highly valued.Technical Skills:• Python backend development (Django, FastAPI, or equivalent; async/ASGI; modern Python 3.13+)• Frontend development with React, Next.js, or equivalent (production UIs, not prototypes)• RESTful API design including BFF patterns and schema validation• PostgreSQL — schema design, query optimization, migrations, data loading• AWS — deploying and operating applications across classified partitions and regions• Terraform for infrastructure-as-code• Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, or CAC/PIV authentication integration• Secure application development for STIG-hardened, FIPS-validated environments• GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows• DevSecOps scan interpretation and remediation (SAST, DAST, SCA, SBOM, container scanning)• AI-assisted development tooling in daily practice• 5+ years hands-on development (or equivalent demonstrated capability)Preferred Skills & Experience:• Incorporating generative AI capabilities into applications (RAG pipelines, LLM integration, or embedding-based search)• Migrating legacy systems and data sources into modern cloud-native architectures• Container orchestration with Kubernetes/EKS and Helm• Hardened container supply chains and FIPS-validated image pipelines• NIST 800-53 security controls and their practical application to software design• Multi-classification or cross-partition deployment architectures• Familiarity with intelligence community environments and DoD mission systems________________________________________nTech is an equal opportunity employer.
