Location: Remote (US Only) – CST Preferred / EST Acceptable Start Date / End Date: Immediate – Ongoing Contract Schedule: 40 hours per weekPOSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a senior Cloud Spanner Specialist to drive database modernization and migration initiatives. In this role, you will lead the transition from legacy Informix systems to GCP Cloud Spanner, implementing change data capture, real-time bi-directional synchronization, and highly scalable ETL data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with platform, infrastructure, and analytics teams to design resilient disaster recovery architectures and optimize Day-2 operational performance.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: Convert legacy Informix database schemas into optimized Cloud Spanner schemas using Spanner-specific structures such as interleaved tables. Design, implement, and maintain Change Data Capture (CDC) and bi-directional replication mechanisms between Cloud Spanner and local data stores. Build and optimize resilient streaming and batch ETL pipelines using Google Cloud Dataflow and Apache Beam. Offload heavy analytics and reporting workloads from primary transactional instances using Spanner Data Boost. Establish robust multi-region high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures, including automated failover/failback mechanisms and detailed DR runbooks. Conduct database capacity planning, performance tuning, observability implementation, and cost optimization for ongoing Day-2 operations.
