Subject Matter Expert 1 – OpenShift & Strategy CMC (DOE/LANL)Location: Los Alamos, NM | Remote eligibleCompensation: $80-$90 per hourSchedule: 1-Year Contract (Extension potential)Openings: 2 positions availableCitizenship: U.S. Citizenship RequiredClearance: Current or prior security clearance preferred | Ability to obtain DOE Q ClearanceWHY THIS ROLELANL is deploying a Strategy Customer Managed Cloud environment and needs two experienced contractors who can hit the ground running. This is a hands-on technical role requiring proven expertise with Red Hat OpenShift and direct experience installing and configuring Strategy CMC software. You will own deployment, configuration, sustainment, and knowledge transfer in a high-security, mission-critical federal environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDeploy, configure, and maintain containerized environments using Red Hat OpenShiftInstall, configure, and support Strategy Customer Managed Cloud (CMC) softwareIntegrate CMC components within OpenShift-based infrastructurePerform system tuning, patching, upgrades, and ongoing operational supportTroubleshoot deployment, configuration, and runtime issues across the full stackCollaborate with technical teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and complianceMentor LANL staff on OpenShift operations including best practices for deployment, maintenance, and troubleshootingDevelop and maintain clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer materialsManage and direct daily tasks supporting design, construction, startup, and operations of complex high-technology systemsRender expert opinions on engineering and technical issues and provide recommendations to project teamsInterface with management personnel and customer representativesDevelop and enforce work standards, assign schedules, and review work qualityRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business Management7+ years of directly applicable experience in specialized technical field - acknowledged expert in specific areaDemonstrated hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (deployment, administration, and operations)Proven experience installing and configuring Strategy Customer Managed Cloud (CMC) softwareStrong understanding of containerization, Kubernetes concepts, and platform operationsExperience with Linux system administrationAbility to work independently in a remote environmentStrong communication skills with ability to effectively mentor and transfer knowledgePreferred QualificationsExperience using OpenShift and Strategy CMC together in a production environmentPrior work in DOE, federal, or other government-regulated environmentsFamiliarity with security, compliance, and configuration management requirements in regulated systemsCurrent or prior security clearanceMandatory Requirements - Read Before ApplyingMust be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q ClearanceMust have hands-on Red Hat OpenShift experience - advisory or theoretical knowledge only will not be consideredMust have direct Strategy CMC installation and configuration experience - no exceptions7+ years of directly applicable specialized technical experience requiredLANL (Los Alamos National Laboratory) | Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action Employer | All postings current as of April 2026.
