Job Title: Project EngineerJob Location: Franklin, TNBase Salary: $70K-$100KRequirements: 2+ years of civil construction experience on Commercial projects. Position Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support delivery of commercial civil construction projects with a focus on earthwork, grading, and utilities (water and sewer). The ideal candidate will coordinate design and construction activities, ensure compliance with specifications and codes, monitor schedule and budget performance, and provide technical direction to field crews and subcontractors to achieve safe, on-time, on-budget project completion.Key Responsibilities:Support project delivery by coordinating engineering design, submittals, and construction activities for earthwork, grading, and utilities on commercial sites.Prepare and review grading plans, earthwork calculations, utility routing, and technical specifications; produce clear construction drawings and details as required.Perform quantity takeoffs and estimate materials, labor, and equipment needs; support pricing and change order development.Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and inspectors to resolve technical issues and maintain schedule and quality objectives.Manage submittals, RFIs, ASIs, and shop drawing reviews; track approvals and ensure timely response to field inquiries.Conduct site visits to verify construction compliance with plans, perform QA/QC inspections, document progress, and produce field reports.Monitor project schedules and budgets; identify risks and recommend corrective actions to maintain cost and timeline targets.Ensure designs and construction activities comply with local codes, permitting requirements, and safety standards; coordinate permit applications as needed.Assist in commissioning and startup of water and sewer systems, ensuring proper testing and documentation.Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with design consultants to incorporate constructability and value-engineering suggestions.Qualifications:2+ years of civil construction engineering experience, with demonstrated work on earthwork, grading, and commercial site projects.Direct experience with utilities design and construction, specifically water and sanitary sewer systems.Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar CAD/Civil design tools; strong Excel skills for quantities and cost tracking.Familiarity with construction means and methods, surveying principles, and geotechnical considerations for earthwork.Experience with project documentation: submittals, RFIs, change orders, and contract deliverables.Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and interact with owners, municipalities, and inspectors.Ability to perform site visits frequently; valid drivers license and reliable transportation.Working knowledge of local codes, permitting processes, and industry safety standards (OSHA or equivalent).Benefits Bonus opportunitiesMedical insuranceDental and vision insurancePaid time off401kand much more!
