Location: Sterling, VA (DMV)
Salary: $110,000 - $170,000 (Experience dependent)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead large-scale commercial HVAC and plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience in design-build environments and is comfortable managing complex mechanical systems across commercial, mission-critical, and high-performance projects.
This organization is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC, plumbing, fabrication, building automation systems, and design-build delivery across the Mid-Atlantic region.
Key Responsibilities
Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion
Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients
Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts
Review drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps and constructability issues
Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and overall project documentation
Oversee procurement of equipment and long-lead materials
Coordinate with fabrication teams and support prefabrication workflows
Support BIM coordination and design-build collaboration efforts
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in mechanical or HVAC project management
Experience on commercial construction projects (multifamily, hospitality, data centers, office, etc.)
Strong knowledge of HVAC and/or plumbing systems
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project teams
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience with design-build or preconstruction services
Exposure to BIM coordination and prefabrication/fabrication workflows
Familiarity with VRF systems and building automation systems (BAS)
Experience with mission-critical or high-performance mechanical systems
Background working for a mechanical contractor
