Relm is building real estate’s AI brain to automate everything from consumer leasing to commercial deal analysis.On the consumer side, Relm is the most advanced AI-powered apartment search (55k+ users and scaling fast). On the professional side, Relm Pro is the Bloomberg Terminal for real estate, automating property research for real estate firms.Together, these platforms form a unified ecosystem: consumer demand generates market data, while Pro users’ supply feeds directly into consumer search. Our goal is to cut $380B of annual waste from the industry and share those savings across all parties involved.FYI - If you’re interested, it’s critical you read the “How to Apply” section below.What You’ll Be DoingAs our first dedicated Data Engineer, you’ll own the pipelines that power both sides of our ecosystem. You’ll work directly with our CTO (co-founder) and founding engineers in our NYC office.Design & build ETL/ELT pipelines from APIs, databases, and streaming systems (Spark, Kafka, etc.).Architect backend services for high-traffic, production-grade data delivery.Optimize databases (SQL/NoSQL + Redis) for real-time property search and insights.Deploy pipelines & services on AWS and Google Cloud.Implement testing & CI/CD to guarantee integrity and reliability at scale.This isn’t a “maintain legacy systems” role; you’ll be building new infrastructure from scratch, making architectural calls, and directly shaping how millions of people find homes.Must-Haves2+ years professional data engineering experience.Strong with modern data pipelines: Spark, Kafka, Airflow (or similar).Backend services: Django, FastAPI, or .NET; API design for scale.Databases: Postgres/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis.Cloud: AWS, GCP (EKS, S3, BigQuery, etc.).Testing/CI/CD: production-grade data validation and release practices.Nice-to-HavesExperience with agentic AI workflows (just-in-time web agents).Large-scale data migration projects.Big Data systems: Hadoop, distributed compute, real-time streaming.Full-stack flexibility (React, Angular, etc.).Data prep experience for ML pipelines.CultureWe’re a 7-person seed-stage startup staging a coup against entrenched industry monopolies.
