Case Manager: Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Community AssociateWith Direction and guidance from the Social Service Director, community associates will deliver on-site trauma-informed social services at city sanctuary hotels throughout New York City. Working cooperatively with hotel operation and security staff, community associates will welcome and engage migrant an asylum-seeking single adult, families with children, or adult families (without children as they enter the sanctuary hotel and navigate New York City. Community Associates will compete culturally sensitive assessments to identify strengths, barriers, and service needs; make referrals to address those needs; and coordinate with City agencies, immigration services, and other community-based organizations.Compensation & BenefitsEstimated Starting Salary Range for Community Associate: $24.04/hourPay commensurate with experience.Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.Community Associate Responsibilities IncludeCulturally sensitive registration, intake, roster tracking, and assessmentBilingual Spanish/English case servicesReferrals to community-based programs and organizationsCoordination with interpretation and translation servicesCoordination with the NYC Department of Education (DOE) on student registration, school placement, attendance, transportation, and troubleshooting as neededReferrals to ESL instructionReferrals for childcareMedical care coordinationCoordination with the Mayor’s Office of Immigration Affairs (MOIS)Referrals to immigration legal servicesOther tasks as necessary to facilitate delivery of necessary services to clients, including storage and distribution of packaged meals.Performs other job-related duties as assignedCommunity Associate Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities RequestedBachelor’s degree or relevant social services experience with people who are vulnerable and have experienced significant trauma. Preferred bachelor’s degree in social work or other human services field + two years of relevant experience working with people who are vulnerable and have experienced significant traumaExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to learn quickly and problem solveStrong organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamBasic understanding of immigration laws and proceduresFluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken) preferred Solid understanding of trauma and experience delivering trauma-informed servicesCrisis intervention experienceKnowledge of immigration laws and regulationsUnderstanding of child development and child welfarePast applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Community Coordinator, Shift Lead, or Community Engagement Manager.
