Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a finance team in Massachusetts in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This role supports core accounting operations, helps keep financial records accurate and timely, and contributes to reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, a solid background in month-end close, and the ability to work across multiple accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:• Oversee sales and use tax reporting activities, ensuring filings are prepared accurately and submitted on schedule.• Prepare recurring cash position and disbursement summaries to support visibility into weekly liquidity needs.• Complete monthly bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable financial records.• Support fixed asset accounting by tracking asset activity, reviewing depreciation schedules, and coordinating the lifecycle of capital projects.• Record and monitor journal entries related to accruals, prepayments, reserves, and allowances to keep ledger balances accurate.• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, reconcile variances, and maintain documentation that supports reported amounts.• Coordinate month-end close tasks and assist in preparing financial reports and related variance analysis for leadership review.• Partner with finance leadership to develop and distribute budget-versus-actual reporting for department managers.• Assist with audit preparation, corporate reporting submissions, and updates to accounting procedures, including training users on revised workflows when needed.• Strong experience with month-end close processes in a senior-level accounting role.• Proven knowledge of general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliation.• Hands-on experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving account variances.• Familiarity with budgeting support, financial reporting, and variance analysis.• Understanding of fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and capital project tracking.• Experience supporting external and internal audit requests with accurate documentation.• Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate with finance and corporate stakeholders.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
