The role will focus on three areas: Oversight of the daily accounting operations, Financial Reporting and Analysis, and Strategic Support and Special Projects.The position will work with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Accounting Officer, and the Director of Finance on a daily basis to enhance the association's financial health and strategic vision. This leadership role will oversee a team of Accounting professionals and have experience with leading leaders. The position will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer.Location: Full Remote or Hybrid to Windsor, ConnecticutWhat You'll Do:Manage oversight of the daily Accounting operationsProvide leadership and supervision to designated accounting staffEnsure accurate and timely processing of financial transactionsDevelop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policiesServes as a liaison with the independent auditors relating to all reports, questions and queries, and coordinating activities of staff responding to the needs of the external auditorsAssist with the review of the weekly cash reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting OfficerAssist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement reportsAssist the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Accounting Officer, and Director of Finance with financial reporting and presentations as required for all employee meetings, board committee, and board of director meetingsAssist the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance with the production and ongoing monitoring of annual budgets and forecastsEnsure timely execution of deliverables and that applicable reporting is in accordance with US GAAPAssist with transformation initiativesCollaborate to ensure alignment with strategic goals for the divisionAssist in the review of product profitabilityFoster a collaborative and high-performance culture while motivating the team to manage various reporting deadlinesWhat You'll BringBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required; CPA, CMA, and/or MBA strongly preferredMinimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with a demonstrated ability to lead leaders and high-performing teams through effective delegation, motivation, and inspirationWhat Do You Need to Succeed?Deep expertise in US GAAP and strong technical accounting and business writing capabilitiesPreferred experience in both for-profit and non-profit environments, with a solid understanding of their unique financial frameworksExtensive knowledge of accounting systems and emerging technologies, including automated workflows and digital processing tools relevant to core accounting functionsExceptional communication skills, presentation, and messaging skills with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and effectivelyStrong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environmentManage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting with shifting demandsAnalyze, interpret, and present financial reports with clarity and insightOperate independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivityRespond effectively to frequent ad hoc requestsFoster a positive, collaborative team culture and drive engagement across departmentsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Office Suite, and other applicable financial software tools and solutions; experience with NetSuite is a plusStrong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, supported by excellent time management and organizational skillsIndustry experience in financial services - particularly in life insurance, retirement, and group and workplace benefits is highly desirableInclusion-Focused, Values-DrivenLIMRA and LOMA are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where individuals feel valued and empowered to contribute.
