The successful candidate will be the first in-house attorney, responsible for building and leading legal capabilities across the firm. This role is pivotal in managing a wide range of legal, regulatory, and strategic matters related to the company's investments, portfolio, and operations. The General Counsel will be expected to be an entrepreneurial and pragmatic lawyer, adept at navigating the novel legal issues within the rapidly evolving crypto ecosystem. Key responsibilities include negotiating and structuring investment transactions, performing legal and regulatory diligence, and providing counsel on governance and novel legal and regulatory fields. The role also involves managing public portfolio company and securities law matters, as well as overseeing third-party subpoena and litigation matters.Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should hold a J.D. and be an active member of at least one U.S. state bar, with a minimum of 8 years' legal experience. A strong background in crypto, including experience with token warrants, SAFTs, and token vesting, is essential. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with sound business judgment, capable of communicating complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders. The role requires a collaborative, proactive, and intellectually curious individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities.
