Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (M.D./D.O.) or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic mental health team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide expert psychiatric care to children and adolescents in a collaborative model with other mental health clinicians at OpenMinds. The ideal candidate will bring a vibrant energy to the clinic, utilizing their clinical expertise to make a meaningful difference in young patients' lives. OpenMinds is a nonprofit mental health clinic that accepts all health insurance, enabling mental health resources to be more accessible in the Santa Barbara community. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage in innovative treatment approaches, and contribute to a supportive environment with therapists, families, and community partners. Duties Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for pediatric and adolescent patients, including detailed patient history, mental status examinations, and behavioral observations. Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, medication management, and other evidence-based interventions tailored to each patient's needs. Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications, including treatments that ensure optimal outcomes. Collaborate with families, caregivers, schools, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and support systems for young patients. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medication administration, and treatment progress. Engage in telehealth consultations to extend access to psychiatric services across diverse settings while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Medical degree (M.D./D.O.) from an accredited institution or certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with appropriate licensure. Valid state medical license or nurse practitioner certification with prescribing authority. Demonstrated experience working with children and adolescents in clinical settings; experience with behavioral health is highly valued. Strong knowledge of medication management for pediatric populations. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems Excellent communication skills for engaging with young patients and their families effectively. Ability to handle acute care situations confidently within hospital or outpatient environments; experience in crisis triage or emergency room settings is advantageous.
