Details Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital setting, focused on acute leukemia and hematology patients Patient population includes adults and geriatrics, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with a possible maximum of 1:5 12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30), 3 shifts per week; rotating day/night contracts may also be available depending on departmental needs No set or blocked scheduling — self-schedule requests are accepted and accommodated before schedules are finalized Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; changes are based on staffing priorities and are not guaranteed Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs Charting is performed in Epic Requirements Active OH or compact RN license required Required certifications: BLS and ACLS Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required Required skills: Med/Surg telemetry, telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, feeding tube care and management, and use of Rapid Response Teams Epic EMR experience strongly preferred 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Additional Information Chemo certification is NOT required for this position Preferred certifications: ONS Chemo Certification and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention Orientation consists of the first week on Mon–Fri dayshift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor First-time travelers will be considered and will be screened for client review All time off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application No break-in-service period is required between assignments when changing representation at this facility (exception: Sterile Processing Techs require a 30-day break) American Traveler Job ID P-686016.
