Quality Assurance Lead

SUMMARYThe Quality Assurance Lead is responsible for ensuring products meet quality standards through testing, inspection, and collaboration with production teams. The Quality Assurance Lead makes recommendations to improve processes and conducts root cause analysis to determine appropriate corrective actions for quality issues. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSupport all quality training initiatives including leading on-the-floor training for production employeesAct as the primary decision-maker on assigned quality issues, initiate corrective actions or production holds when applicableMaintain knowledge of industry testing and quality standards and implement improvements to current protocols based on industry trendsTravel to customer sites when required to assess and diagnose reported quality issues, lead corrective action implementation based on findingsMaintain a strong quality focus and actively participate in the resolution of customer complaints including inspection of returned products, processing of all customer returns and reworks, and root cause analysis reporting on findings to Operations leadership to help minimize customer and/or internal complaints.Maintain all internal ISO-9001 documents including the upkeep of ISO SOPs as required.Schedule and conduct routine quality control inspections and tests on products and materials during the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality standards including pulling samples for inspection by Operations leadershipAnalyze quality data and recommend corrective actions to Operations leadership.Document findings and maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, quality control processes, and complaints through the internal Quality System.Understand and support operations processes by working side-by-side with production associates and assist with troubleshooting quality-related issues on the production floor.Assist in implementing the company Health and Safety program to prevent or correct unsafe working conditions.Special projects and assignments as business dictates.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilitiesSKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Business Administration required 4-6 years of manufacturing quality control experience requiredPrevious experience in corrugated packaging preferredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess processes and identify areas for improvementAble and willing to spend equal time in the plant with machine operators, maintenance personnel, and vendors; able to communicate production and process effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Must have attention to detail and focused concentration.Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow.Must be able to complete tasks that require a particular speed or productivity quota.Must be able to adhere to process protocol and must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing this job, the employee is regularly required to:The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlThe employee is regularly required to stand for a prolonged period as well as bending and stooping regularlyThe job duties will require the employee to utilize repetitive fine manipulation with handsThe employee is frequently required to talk or hearThe employee is required to reach with hands and armsThe employee must regularly push/pull/lift 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally more with assistanceSpecific vision abilities for this job include close vision, distance vision and depth visionThe employee is to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, hard hat, leather steel toe boots, etc.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually loudNormal manufacturing and office environmentCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSISO 9001 Auditor certification preferredASTA or IoPP certification preferredOTHER DUTIESPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
