Come see what VHB can do for you!VHB's Virginia team is seeking a Virginia Structures Design Lead to expand our structural practice/capabilities across Virginia. In this role, you'll be an integral part of the growing our market prominence, leading bridge projects as well as mentoring our transportation team.Learn more about our Structures practice at VHB: Bridges & Structures | VHBResponsibilitiesProject management/task managementPrepares proposals and/or contracts Participates in project decisions regarding technical approach, costs, and schedulingDirects and mentors team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.Performs quality reviews of team members work for accuracy and to ensure that the production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirementsProvides leadership and direct supervision to team members, including managing performance, supporting career development, and overseeing staff with direct reporting responsibilities Drives business development efforts by building client relationships, identifying new opportunities, contributing to strategic growth initiatives, and supporting proposal pursuitsSkills and AttributesStrong project management skillsMotivated to coach and mentor team membersExtensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineeringDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail oriented and quality focusedQualifications11+ years of experience in structural bridge designVDOT experience is preferredPE license requiredBS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structures requiredExperience completing transportation studies, design reports, final design documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures or independent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete), and seismic analysis We are VHB!
