Steward/Dishwasher

Job Description Description:Job Summary:The Steward/Dishwasher is primarily responsible for washing dishes, utensils, pots and pans and other wares used in food production and service, properly storing them after cleanings. Also responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and sense of organization in kitchen and dumpster areas.Job Duties/Responsibilities:Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in employee changing rooms, restrooms, back-of-the-house employee areas, elevator, dumpster, and receiving areaEmpty trash cans from dish room, kitchen, and storeroom into appropriate refuge receptacles regularly, ensuring proper recyclingRemove empty boxes from kitchen and storage areas to the dumpster regularlyKeep equipment, floors, and work areas clean, free of slip, trip, and fall hazards, and ensure they are in good working orderClean and sanitize all dishes, pots, pans, and utensils according to local guidelines to maintain sufficient supply levels for the Food & Beverage DepartmentAssist in storing grocery and supply itemsSet up and operate dish machines, three-compartment sinks, garbage disposers, and chemical dispensing systems, notifying supervisors of malfunctionsEnsure dish machine supplies are stocked and notify supervisors when supplies are lowAssist cooks and the Executive Chef in food preparation as neededSet up and break down buffet tables and theme decorations, including ice displaysPerform special projects or other assigned dutiesRequirements:Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to maintain clean and sanitary working environmentsKnowledge of proper waste disposal and recycling proceduresAbility to identify and remove slip, trip, and fall hazards to maintain safe work areasProficiency in cleaning and sanitizing kitchen tools and equipment according to local health guidelinesBasic knowledge of operating dish machines, sinks, garbage disposers, and chemical dispensing systemsAttention to detail in monitoring supply levels and ensuring adequate stock for kitchen operationsAbility to assist in food preparation and handle set-up/breakdown of buffet tables and decorationsCommunication skills to notify supervisors of equipment malfunctions or supply shortagesEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent educationPhysical Requirements:Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.Frequent repetitive motions.Continuous standing and walking.
