Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesClinical Anesthesia & Sedation CareAssist in the administration and monitoring of anesthesia and sedation services for pediatric dental procedures in accordance with California regulations and facility protocols.Collaborate with the supervising dental anesthesiologist and surgical team to develop individualized anesthesia care plans.Conduct pre-anesthesia patient assessments, including review of medical history, medications, allergies, airway evaluation, and ASA classification.Monitor patients throughout sedation and recovery using appropriate anesthesia monitoring equipment, including:Pulse oximetryECG/EKGCapnographyBlood pressure monitoringTemperature monitoringAssist with airway management and emergency interventions as needed.Administer and document medications, anesthetic agents, and adjunct therapies in compliance with applicable laws and clinical protocols.Evaluate patient readiness for discharge and oversee post-anesthesia recovery care.Pediatric Patient CareProvide compassionate, developmentally appropriate care to pediatric patients and reassurance to families.Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive clinical environment during sedation and recovery.Recognize and respond promptly to pediatric anesthesia or sedation complications.Surgical Team CollaborationWork collaboratively with:Dental anesthesiologistsPediatric dentistsOral healthcare providersRegistered nursesDental assistantsSurgical support staffParticipate in surgical safety time-outs and emergency response drills.Support efficient patient flow while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety.Documentation & ComplianceAccurately complete anesthesia records, sedation documentation, medication logs, and recovery notes.Maintain compliance with:California Board regulationsOSHA standardsHIPAA requirementsInfection control standardsACLS/PALS protocolsFacility sedation policies and proceduresParticipate in quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.Emergency PreparednessMaintain readiness for pediatric airway emergencies and anesthesia-related complications.Assist with emergency equipment checks and crash cart preparedness.Participate in mock emergency drills and continuing education activities.Required QualificationsCurrent unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license.Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.Minimum of 1-2 years of anesthesia experience preferred.Experience working with pediatric patients strongly preferred.Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring equipment and pediatric airway management.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in:Pediatric dental anesthesiaAmbulatory surgery centersOutpatient surgical environmentsSedation dentistryFamiliarity with California dental sedation regulations.Strong emergency response and critical thinking skills.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced pediatric surgical environment.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.Manual dexterity sufficient to operate anesthesia and monitoring equipment.Ability to respond quickly and effectively during emergency situations.Work EnvironmentPediatric dental surgical environment.Exposure to anesthetic gases, clinical equipment, and healthcare settings.Fast-paced clinical setting requiring strong attention to detail and patient safety.Core CompetenciesPediatric patient careAirway managementSedation and anesthesia monitoringCritical thinking and rapid decision-makingTeam collaborationProfessionalism and confidentialityPatient safety and quality assuranceCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive Salary401(k)401(k) matchingDental insuranceEmployee assistance programHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offParental leaveRetirement planTuition reimbursementVision insurance
