Client Support Specialist

CLASSIFICATION PURPOSEThe purpose of the Client Support Specialist is to provide information and assistance to the clients, agencies, and the public.JOB DUTIESProvides information and assistance to clients, agencies, and the public, in response to inquiries received by telephone, mail, fax, electronically, or in person. Explains rules and procedures. Uses state computer systems. [50%]Performs research to determine solutions to clients’ problems. Uses computer systems and researches case records. Refers problems to appropriate staff for resolution. Maintains records and documentation of inquiries and resolution of problems. [25%]Provides additional clerical support including switchboard and front desk duties; answers incoming calls using headset and multi-line console. Screens calls and directs caller to appropriate agency employees. Takes messages when necessary. Provides information. [20%]Performs various clerical duties, e.g., typing, word processing, opening, sorting and distributing mail, filing, copy work, and scanning. [5%]These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these duties or other customer service duties as assigned.MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICSKnowledge of office practices and procedures, Federal, State, and Local laws, rules and regulations concerning agency programs, confidentiality procedures and guidelines, and public relations. Skill in written and oral communication, and organization.    Ability to use computers, complete forms, and correspondence, resolve a wide range of problems concerning public inquiries, perform a wide variety of interrelated nonstandard procedural assignments, present and explain policies and procedures, listen for problems or issues, and provide responses.
