You are eager to learn about the design process and the full cycle of a high-end designer collection from development to presentation. You are organized and detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to shifting priorities. You are excited to be part of a small team in a dynamic, creative environment.A Day in the Life of the JJteam:The typical day is... atypical. You might be researching emerging trends, meeting our factories, and using Adobe Suite to sketch or retouch artwork. You will be part of the design process through the entire development process from concept to commercialization which includes patternmaking, muslin sewing, sketching, fabric and trim research, and many more tasks.To land this role you must:be a NYC-based fashion student enrolled in a fashion collegehave the ability to provide a portfolio of past worksbe available for 2 days a weekhave an understanding of professional interactionshave the ability to do technical drawingshave working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Excelhave organizational skillshave initiative and problem-solving skillsmust be dog friendlyunderstanding of materials is a plusThe JJteam is a great place to learn:By working with experienced designers, you are getting to know world-class suppliers and artisans, meeting factories, and getting an overview of a fashion designer’s work.You will:gain knowledge of high-quality textileslearn about the full circle of a womenswear collectionestablish valuable connections with factories and vendorsdeepen your technical skills by using Adobe Creative suitelearn how to copy patterns and sew muslinsimprove your communication skills by effectively working with team members, vendors and collaborators.gain general fashion industry knowledgeCompensationThis internship provides school credit and a stipend for expenses like transportation and lunch.
