The Legal Assistant ensures timely and accurate completion of work assigned by multiple attorneys, including litigation case management, regulatory filings, document preparation, electronic filing, calendar and deadline tracking, and overall practice support. Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of three (3) years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal SecretaryBackground supporting Litigation Practice Group Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesStrong typing, formatting, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detailKnowledge of litigation processes, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and court proceduresFamiliarity with regulatory filings and agency procedures (such as Public Utilities Commission, FERC, or state energy boards)Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skillsAbility to manage calendars, deadlines, and multiple priorities effectivelyComfortable working independently while collaborating as part of a teamFlexible and responsive to time-sensitive demands; willingness to work beyond regular business hours when necessaryProficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tools such as iManage, Aderant, Interaction, and PreBill Manager is a plusSkilled in legal document preparation, transcription, and editing Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare and edit legal documents, correspondence, reports, and internal forms accurately and efficientlyDraft, format, and modify pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and regulatory filings based on attorney notes and instructionsMaintain case files, track litigation deadlines, and assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and bindersSupport attorneys with regulatory compliance matters, including preparing filings for energy-related agencies and monitoring submission deadlinesTranscribe from dictation or handwritten material; draft and edit documents as neededMaintain calendars, schedule meetings and appointments, and monitor filing deadlinesHandle phone calls and visitors professionally, gathering accurate information and directing inquiries appropriatelyCoordinate travel arrangements and submit expense reports for assigned attorneys and team membersAssist with pre-bill review and edits to meet monthly billing deadlinesPerform or oversee administrative tasks such as e-filing, creating tables of authorities and contents, managing Excel and PowerPoint files, and document formattingAssign or handle administrative tasks like scanning, copying, docketing, mail distribution, time entry, and file maintenance when neededSupport other attorneys and legal assistants during high-volume periods or team member absencesDisclaimer:The information provided in this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by incumbents within this job.
