Digital Publishing/ Instructional Designer

YOUR ROLE will contribute to our mission by designing and laying out eBooks for our clients, ensuring clarity, readability, and visual balance. The role involves organizing text, media, graphics, and interactive elements through InDesign and Index’s proprietary eBook software to create a cohesive and engaging digital learning experience. In addition, this role involves working within a Learning Management System (LMS) to enhance the accessibility and usability of existing eBook content, aligning with best practices in inclusive design. RESPONSIBILITIES · Design and layout books page-by-page to ensure readability, content balance, and natural flow · Follow brand guidelines, curate media, and design content for digital publication · Interpret and apply technical information to eBook layouts · Work within LMS software to enhance the accessibility of existing eBook content · Work on-site in Williamsburg, Virginia office with potential for a hybrid schedule after training (manager approval required) SKILLS · Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator · Degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Communications, Layout or Graphic Design associate’s degree, or equivalent experience · Strong eye for design, including color, form, and typography for reader engagement · Fluency in design principles, theory and professional terminology · Experience with iBooks Author, photography, or videography is a plus · Production layout experience in magazines, books, or catalogs is a plus · Willingness and capacity to learn new tools and concepts, including accessibility standards · Detail-oriented and adaptable to various software tools used in eBook creation · Effective communication and collaboration skills · Prior experience with LMS platforms or web accessibility is preferred but not required · Illustration experience is a plus · Professional or academic experience in graphic design and page layout is a plus MUST **Send portfolio to ciara.forrest@indexarsolutions.com** Job Type: Full-time Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Application Question(s): MUST SEND PORTFOLIO WITH PAGE LAYOUT WORK Experience: Layout design: 1 year (Required) Ability to Commute: Williamsburg, VA 23185 (Required) Work Location: In person
