HR Payroll Assistant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized HR Payroll Assistant to support payroll operations and assist with daily human resources functions. This position is responsible for processing payroll, maintaining employee records, tracking timekeeping information, and supporting HR administrative activities. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, payroll knowledge, and the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and accuracy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Process employee payroll accurately and on schedule
Review and verify employee timesheets and attendance records
Update payroll information including pay rates, deductions, tax withholdings, and direct deposit information
Maintain accurate employee records and payroll documentation
Assist employees with payroll questions and resolve discrepancies promptly
Support new hire onboarding and employee file management
Assist with benefits administration and payroll-related deductions
Prepare payroll and HR reports as requested
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company payroll regulations and policies
Provide administrative support to the Human Resources department
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Associate degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Equivalent payroll or HR experience may be considered in place of formal education
Previous payroll, HR, or administrative support experience preferred
Knowledge of payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, and wage and hour laws
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook
Experience with payroll systems and HRIS software preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically

Standard business hours with occasional overtime during payroll processing periods
