This role is essential to keep operations running smoothly by minimizing downtime through prompt and effective mechanical service on-site. Key Roles / Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines, heavy equipment, trucks, and support machinery. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, dump trucks, and cranes. Respond quickly to breakdowns and service requests at various job sites to minimize operational downtime. Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance according to company schedules and manufacturer recommendations. Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and parts inventory documentation. Collaborate with field supervisors and operators to identify equipment issues and recommend solutions. Ensure all repairs and maintenance work comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain cleanliness and organization of service tools, equipment, and work areas. Assist with loading and unloading equipment and parts as needed. Support other maintenance and field crews in related tasks as required. Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in heavy equipment or construction machinery. Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and hydraulic systems. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required. Physically able to perform manual labor including lifting heavy parts and working in varying weather conditions. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment. Commitment to workplace safety and following company policies. Working Conditions: Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time. The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying. Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc. Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed. React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet. Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions. Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed. Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
