Structural Project Manager Our growing team is hiring a Structural Project Manager. This is an experienced position involving exciting, challenging, and complex assignments with opportunities for growth. As a Structural Project Manager, you will direct project teams in the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and a background in bridge design. On our team, you will have the opportunity to work on various infrastructure projects for State DOTs, local agencies and private clients. You will have the opportunity to coordinate directly with clients while helping to mentor and develop a team of young structural engineers.
Location This position is a hybrid position with both remote work and office work in our office in Chicago, IL.
Projects Our Illinois Division's structural team is proud to lead high-impact projects that demonstrate the depth and diversity of our technical expertise, including:
IDOT - I-39 Reconstruction Project - Designing multiple new bridge structures along the reconstructed I-39 corridor, including the complex Ramp BD over US 20 bridge - a three-span continuous steel curved plate girder structure with steel straddle bent piers.
CDOT — 100th Street Bascule Bridge Rehabilitation Project - Developing a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for this historic structure, including complete replacement of the truss structure over the river.
City of Elgin — Kimball Street Bridge over Fox River Reconstruction Project - Completing preliminary design for the full reconstruction of the existing 11-span bridge with a new five-span continuous steel haunched girder structure, incorporating a new grade separated multi-use path crossing of Kimball by the Fox River Trail.
Elk Grove Village — Arlington Heights Road Pedestrian Bridge Project - Creating a new grade-separated connection to the Busse Woods Forest Preserve with an 850‑ft curved steel and concrete structure, featuring a 140‑ft steel V‑frame structure crossing over the roadway and aesthetic enhancements throughout.
Contractor Engineering - Working for industry-leading contractors to deliver demolition plans and erection plans with a focus on complex structures, including highly skewed steel and concrete spans along the Illinois Tollway; steel plate girder river crossings with spans exceeding 300‑ft in length; signature tied arch bridges.
Impact You Will Have Responsible for project management, including cost control, project budget control, and quality assurance/quality control.
Direct and manage the budgeting and execution of projects including the supervision of assigned staff and subcontractors.
Mentor and direct the advancement of technical and non-technical skills of developing structural engineers.
Contribute to structural design work as a technical reviewer or advisor.
Adhere to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation and project tracking.
Participate in Business Development and Marketing, including networking, preparation of SOQs, proposals, and contracts.
What We Are Looking For B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) required; M.S. Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural) preferred.
PE License required; SE License in IL preferred.
10+ years of experience in roadway bridge design, with management experience preferred.
IDOT, ISTHA and CDOT experience preferred. Experience with Chicagoland counties and municipalities desirable.
Excellent communication, strong written, oral, and client relation skills, experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders.
Strong organization and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
Compensation The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the State of Illinois Pay Transparency Act, Illinois Pay Transparency Law. The final agreed‑upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary, overtime, and bonuses.
$130,000 — $175,000 USD
