(see E Ink │ Our Company)And we're looking for a Coating and Lamination Engineer!About the position:E Ink's Product Development Group is looking for a Coating Engineer to join the Coating and Lamination Process development team. As a member of this team this individual will work on next generation ePaper products that support our mission of Making Surfaces Smarter and Green. This individual will be responsible for developing innovative coating and lamination solutions for E Ink's unique materials. Working within cross-functional project teams, this individual will be responsible for planning and executing complex pilot and production-scale experiments to develop creative coating and lamination solutions.Responsibilities:Implement a wide range of coating application methods to support new design and materials introduction into next generation ePaper devicesInteract across multiple groups to understand coating requirements of new materials, including fluids and coating substrate materials; develop and demonstrate process capabilities for these requirementsAccelerate transition of coating technologies from research to development by collaborating with research engineers to resolve scale-up challenges and align early-on process feasibilityDemonstrate fundamental relationships between process variables and device performance, with goal of using what is learned for scale-up to production scaleDesign, manage and coordinate experiments on pilot-scale roll-to-roll coating equipmentConduct film characterizations such as profilometry, optical, mechanical, and analytical to verify experimental formulations as they relate to electro-optical metrics and coating-related defectsInteract with technicians, perform process troubleshooting, and issue reportsDocument and transfer processes from Development to Production environmentQualifications:BS/MS/PhD in Chemical, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in roll-to-roll processes and coating technologyKnowledge and experience in a wide range of coating applications such as Slot Die, Gravure, Blade, and multilayer coating techniquesHands-on experience with process control systems for coating or roll-to-roll manufacturing processes (e.g., PLCs, feedback control, sensor integration) highly desiredHands on experience in 3D modeling, tool design and fabricationExperience in process design, hardware testing, and equipment troubleshootingFamiliarity with rheological and mechanical measurement techniquesKnowledge of Design of Experiments and Statistical AnalysisProficiency with Microsoft Office software, JMP or other statistical analysis toolsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong sense of urgency and a performance metrics-driven styleSound analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities, willingness to learn new skills and be flexibleBenefits:Competitive total compensation packageMedical, dental and vision on 1st dayCompany 401K match20 PTO daysGenerous sick leave policyCasual day to day work environmentHybrid/flexible work environment (for some positions)E Ink is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce. The total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other variable pay components.
