The Speech-Language Pathologist works collaboratively with educators, administrators, families, and support staff to identify, assess, and treat speech and language impairments that impact a student's ability to access and benefit from the educational program.The SLP provides diagnostic evaluations, develops and implements individualized therapy plans, participates in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, and supports instructional staff in addressing communication needs across learning environments. This position promotes inclusive practices and ensures compliance with federal and state special education regulations.QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program;Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Speech-Language Pathology certification (T5) or eligibility for certification;Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred;Knowledge of federal and state special education laws including IDEA and Georgia Board of Education rules;Experience working with school-age children preferred;Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information;Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Strong knowledge of speech, language, fluency, voice, and communication disorders affecting school-age children;Ability to conduct formal and informal assessments and interpret results to guide instruction and intervention;Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams;Ability to design and implement individualized therapy interventions aligned with IEP goals;Knowledge of assistive technology and evidence-based practices for speech-language intervention;Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain organized records, and meet required timelines;Ability to integrate technology to support therapy, documentation, and communication;Commitment to maintaining student dignity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct screenings, evaluations, and re-evaluations to identify students with speech and language impairments;Develop, implement, and monitor speech-language therapy services aligned with students' IEP goals and objectives;Provide individual and small-group therapy to support students' communication development;Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to integrate communication strategies into classroom instruction;Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and multidisciplinary team discussions;Maintain accurate and timely documentation including therapy logs, progress reports, evaluation reports, and compliance records;Monitor student progress through data collection and adjust interventions based on student needs;Provide consultation and training to teachers, staff, and families regarding speech-language strategies and student supports;Support the identification and referral process for students with suspected speech or language impairments;Maintain therapy schedules and caseloads in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines;Ensure compliance with all special education regulations, district policies, and professional standards;Participate in professional learning and remain current on research-based practices in speech-language pathology;Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and parent conferences as required;Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Exceptional Student Programs or designee;Performs other tasks as assigned by Supervisor(s).WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift and carry teaching materials, books, or small classroom equipment (typically up to 25 lbs);Ability to prepare and manipulate learning materials;Ability to stand and actively move around the classroom for extended periods;Ability to move between classrooms, hallways, and other school areas as needed;Ability to respond quickly in case of emergencies, such as evacuating students or assisting during drills;Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.REPORTS TO: Director of Exceptional Students ProgramSALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be reviewed upon submission.
