Technical Project Manager Factory
Job Title: TPM FactoryLocation: Redmond WAOnsite/ Remote: Day 1 Onsite at Customer locationJob Description:The candidate is responsible for managing sustaining activities in the Sustaining Product Engineering Organization.Support sites include factories and repair centers that build and repair Microsoft SurfaceThis role includes a mix of hands-on project management, engineering problem solving, and business case analysis to support quality and cost driven improvements.The individual will interface across international manufacturing, repair centers, and internal departments; Managing a flexible work schedule is a must.As a Sustaining PM, you are responsible to drive continuous improvements through the product lifetime.You will work directly with the product development teams and supply chain organization.Collaboration, engineering, analytical, and problem resolution are critical to individual and program success.The ideal candidate will effectively present to management, develop tools to facilitate communication, have manufacturing experience and drive the team to deliver a high quality, high yielding hardware product at the right cost.Strong program management skills, excellent written and oral communication, handling multiple work streams, and a history of influencing products are attributes of the right individual.ResponsibilitiesProgram manage sustaining component, test, process and design qualifications from identify to implementationDevelop comprehensive issue assessment and mitigation strategies when problems ariseAnalysis of performance metrics for manufacturingROI analysis to determine the feasibility of projectsDocument development to instruct the manufacturing and repair sites how to perform key and critical processesFamiliarity with BOM update and change review processesWork with global teams and assist in the compilation of status updatesCoordination of meetings with technical staff at manufacturing and repair sites and maintain action item logs resulting from the meetings and the follow up of those action itemsAssist in managing worldwide engineering and quality initiatives and projects.Track and report out project statusQualifications5-8 years experience with program managementBS degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial desired)Understanding of FI/FA (Fault Isolation / Failure Analysis) methodologyExperience and/or understanding of a manufacturing environment is a plusFamiliarity with proprietary MS Business applications (Team Foundation Server) and any ERP systemStrong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio).Effective program coordination skills and the ability to implement and monitor basic projects and plans.Excellent communication skills with the ability to express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.Experience working in high ambiguity situationsEnthusiastic, motivated, and self drivenAlso, below is additional feedback from customer.At a high level, this role requires strong expertise in hardware analysis (including wear and tear assessment of laptops), supply chain fundamentals, highly effective collaboration and communication skills, and a proactive mindset.Looking for in-person candidates only, who is also flexible to travel on-demand within Redmond to deliver devices and collaborate with our FA team in Marymoor building (near Whole Foods, Redmond).
