Structural Engineer – Transportation

Overview In this role you will design and rehabilitate transportation structures, focusing on highways, transit, and rail projects in California. You will work within Stantec's Transportation Team to develop design drawings, calculations, and specifications that meet industry standards. You’ll collaborate across disciplines, review contractor submittals, and support client communications to ensure high-quality, build-ready designs. This position offers the opportunity to influence critical infrastructure and contribute to sustainable, resilient transportation networks. You will leverage advanced analysis tools to deliver safe, code-compliant structures on meaningful projects like high-speed rail and� ResponsibilitiesDevelop design drawings, calculations, and details for transportation projectsDesign new transportation structures and rehabilitate existing ones with cross-disciplinary coordinationReview shop drawings and calculations, perform site visits, address RFIs, oversee testing and monitoringAssist with client coordination, including meetings, submittals, and comment resolutionCoordinate with structural staff and clients to deliver high-quality projects Key requirementsLicensed Professional Engineer in CaliforniaProficiency in concrete (including precast and prestressed), steel, masonry, and wood/timber designExperience with SAP2000, CSiBridge, Midas Civil or equivalent softwareStrong capability in structural calculations and Caltrans design standardsKnowledge of ACI, AASHTO, REMA, AISC, AWC, Timber NDS, CBC-IBCDOD/NAVFAC/ACOE experience a plus; CA High Speed Rail experience a plus but not requiredBachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; Master's preferred5+ years of engineering design and design check experienceAutodesk and Bentley BIM experience a plusattention to detailleadershipteam-buildingSAP2000CSiBridgeMidas Civil
