We have over 20 years’ experience developing complex integrated localization (positioning) and perception solutions. We strive to ensure our products remain on the cutting-edge of innovation, guided by the practical reality of what our customers require to reliably execute complex surveys in the most demanding operating environments. We are a small company of ~25 employees.This electronic hardware engineer role is a full-time position in the Houston office. This position will play a major role in the design activity related to our current and next generation systems. The successful candidate will be working as a member of a small development team of very capable people. You will be working independently solving real world problems. You will be responsible for generating design solutions that are suitable for implementation within our products. This role will also prototype these developments and move them from development into production. Most of our systems have the requirement to integrate multiple sensors while precisely time tagging these measurements, these systems must consume low power and they need to reliably operate in small spaces, in harsh conditions over wide temperature ranges. The reliability of our solutions in a hostile environments is critical.Primary ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for the electronic hardware and firmware development for Zupt’s products. You will assist with writing system specifications and detailed design specifications. You will recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions. As we are a small company you will stay involved for the full life cycle of a design (concept, development, prototype, system integration, production and post-production support). You will have a demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment with good communication skills. Minimal travel is expected in this role occasionally for engineering support of products deployed in the field.Required Skills and Experience – Not all the skills listed below are required – some are “nice to have”.Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident alien, we work with ITAR controlled equipment. Export control restrictions based upon applicable laws and regulations would prohibit candidates who are nationals of certain embargoed countries from working in this position without Zupt first obtaining an export license. Candidates for this role must be able to access technical data without a requirement for an export license. We are unable to sponsor or obtain export licenses for this role.You will have detailed experience with microcontroller based real-time embedded systems and their associated development environments (TI, STMicroelectronics, Microchip, etc.). These microcontrollers will have interfaced into analog and digital subsystems, components and sensors. You will also be familiar with power supply design. Hopefully you will have had some exposure to FPGA embedded programming with FPGA design and simulation SW tools (Xilinx Vivado/Vitis, Verilog or VHDL) Perhaps with experience with Xilinx and/ or Altera FPGA’s, SOC?We assume you will have had some exposure with various communication protocols such as RS-232, RS422, USB, I2C, SPI, UART and Ethernet.You will have PCB layout (ORCAD, Altium, Eagle) and design software, MATLAB and circuit simulation tools (PSPICE, LTSPICE).Experience with design and implementation of firmware for embedded devices and systems with strong programming skills in C, C++, assembly, Python and VHDL or other HDLs. Familiarity and experience with embedded systems design using a preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems (RTOS). Any familiarity with ROS/ROS2 would also be useful.Proven proficiency in hardware and software debugging in a lab environment using common test equipment (such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.) at all levels from HW/FW to system.Proficient with MS Office Tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio).Experience with software version control (SVN/GIT).It would be very useful if you had some familiarity/experience with:Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) hardware (IMUs, GNSS, GPS, etc.) and hardware integration including time triggered Ethernet (PTP, NTP) and other networking protocolsRequired Education:A minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineer, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university and 5 years solid hardware design and prototyping experiencePlease send your resume to: hr@zupt.comNotice to third party agencies:Please note that we do not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters or employment agencies.
