Rehabilitation Aide

Rehabilitation Aide Department(s): Rehabilitation Services Reports to: Rehabilitation Manager/Director FLSA status: Non-Exempt EEOC Classification: Professionals Job Summary: The Rehab Aide supports the delivery of rehabilitation services to participants in a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) organization. This role involves assisting therapists with therapeutic activities, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for participants. Key Responsibilities: · Participant Assistance: o Assist participants with exercises and activities as directed by physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. o Lead routine group exercises with participants. o Support participants with mobility, including transfers, walking, and use of adaptive equipment. o Monitor and report participants’ progress and any changes in condition to therapists and other healthcare staff. · Therapy Support: o Prepare and set up equipment for therapy sessions. o Assist therapists during treatment sessions, including managing supplies and materials. o Clean and sanitize therapy equipment and areas after use. o Build DME, deliver and install simple DME in participants' homes. o Participant transport to therapy visits. · Administrative Tasks: o Maintain accurate records of participant activities and progress as required. o Assist with documentation and data entry related to therapy services. o Order and maintain tracking for devices such as Medical alerts and Grandpad. o Order DME and assistive devices as directed. · Environment Maintenance: o Ensure therapy areas including closets are organized, clean, and free from hazards. o Conduct routine checks and maintenance of therapy equipment. o Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Rehabilitation Manager/Director. Qualifications: · Education: o High school diploma or equivalent required. o Certification as a Rehab Aide or related field preferred. · Experience: o Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting preferred. o Experience working with the elderly or disabled populations is a plus. · Skills and Abilities: o Strong interpersonal and communication skills. o Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team. o Basic knowledge of rehabilitation principles and techniques. o Physical ability to assist with participant mobility and lift up to 50 pounds. o Effectively use the computer and software tools. · Other Requirements: o CPR and First Aid certification preferred. o Commitment to the values and mission of the PACE program. o This position requires working in a healthcare setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. o The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. o The role will involve travel to participants' homes or other care facilities. Employee will also be actively present throughout the PACE center, engaged with employees, participants and with staff. May require standing for extended periods and lifting/moving heavy objects. Employee is required to use hands and fingers, especially for typing on the computer and using the mouse. Employee must be able to talk and hear, particularly for daily interactions with staff and elderly participants. Work Environment: Employee must be able to work in a busy and demanding kitchen environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
