Counsel – Insurance Litigation & CoverageTop-Tier Law Firm | Multiple U.S. Locations | HybridA leading international law firm is seeking an Insurance Litigation & Coverage Counsel to join its financial lines practice, advising on complex coverage disputes and litigation across a broad range of specialty insurance products including D&O, Cyber, Professional Indemnity, Credit, and Representations & Warranties Insurance. The role sits at the intersection of insurance coverage analysis and contentious dispute resolution, acting for insurers, corporates, private equity sponsors and policyholders across a range of financial lines products. The position will involve advising on coverage positions, drafting and negotiating reservation of rights correspondence, managing pre-litigation disputes and running coverage litigation through to resolution — including arbitration and court proceedings where required. In addition to contentious work, the role carries a meaningful advisory component — including policy review and wordings analysis, coverage opinion work, and advising clients on risk allocation and indemnification structures in the context of M&A transactions and corporate governance matters. Experience across RWI coverage disputes or transactional risk advisory would be particularly welcomed, though is not essential. We are keen to speak with lawyers who have built a practice across financial lines coverage work, whether from a policyholder, insurer or dual-capacity perspective. Candidates with prior experience at a specialist insurance boutique, the financial lines team of a major firm, or in-house at a carrier or MGA are equally of interest.Candidates should have approximately 5–8+ years of relevant experience, a strong academic background and the ability to manage sophisticated counterparties across insurers, corporates and deal teams. Familiarity with policy language across D&O, Cyber, PI, Credit and transactional risk products is highly desirable, as is experience handling multi-jurisdiction matters. The ideal candidate will combine sharp technical knowledge of financial lines products with strong litigation instincts and sound commercial judgement. They will be a confident drafter and communicator, comfortable engaging with senior clients, insurers and opposing counsel in complex, high-value disputes — while maintaining the precision and focus that contentious insurance work demands. This is an opportunity to join a recognised platform at the forefront of financial lines coverage and dispute work in the U.S. market, with exposure to complex domestic and cross-border matters and the scope to build a distinctive practice in a high-demand and strategically important area of insurance law.
