Bilingual Arabic/English Director of Curriculum Development
OverviewPosition Summary: University of the People invites applications to fill a vacancy in the role of Director of Curriculum Development for our Arabic division to develop a bachelors degree in Business Administration that will be designed and taught in Arabic. Reporting to the Vice Provost, the Director will oversee the development of this program through the supervision and guidance of two instructional designers. The Director will also work with subject matter experts as needed in order to develop the courses. The Director will collaboratively review the courses to ensure they are instructionally sound, meet the intended learning objectives, and meet the University’s overall quality standards. The Director monitors curriculum development status and progress and identifies and removes barriers to keep production on schedule. The incumbent will be responsible for program documentation and relevant accreditation implications if applicable. This position also helps to define and document processes, procedures, and course development standards.ResponsibilitiesRecruitment, training and supervision of course developersAssist in supervising the Arabic-language adaptations to MoodleWork with instructional designers and course developers during the programming process to clarify content as neededPrioritize, manage, and accurately complete tasks within prescribed time-framesQualificationsBilingual in Arabic and EnglishMaster’s degree in instructional technology, curriculum & instruction, education, business administration or a related fieldDemonstrated ability to design, execute and manage online curriculum development projectsExperience creating, testing and manipulating content in a Learning Management SystemBroad knowledge, and an ability to make creative connections between different academic disciplinesStrong written and oral communication abilitiesStrong organizational skills; a self-starter capable of working independently while also being a team playerExcellent computer and technology skillsReliable internet accessUnderstanding of online education, pedagogy, and best practicesKnowledge of instructional design principlesHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as a collaborative team memberAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesIdentify and resolve problems in a timely mannerGenerate suggestions for improving work processesUtilize flexible interpersonal communication skills to provide quality serviceAbility to adapt to changing policies and proceduresWork with diverse groups from all organizational levelsOwn a CarHave Driving LicensePreference Given to Candidates Who Possess All of the Above PlusHave previous experience working with MoodleUnderstanding of quality benchmarks in online educationExperience with accreditation or reaccreditationAbout The Company
