Staff Accountant
Serán BioScience is searching for an experienced Staff Accountant to join the Accounting and Finance team. In this role you will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities. Supported by the larger Accounting Department, the ideal candidate will have at least three years of related accounting experience to apply towards this position. Examples include maintaining a general ledger and preparing monthly P&L statements for internal stakeholders to review. Title and salary will be adjusted to meet the skills and abilities of selected candidate. Those with a degree in Accounting or similar field encouraged to apply.Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerforms general accounting and other related duties for the organization, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month end closing task managementPrepares monthly balance sheets and income (P&L) statementsMaintains the general ledgerMay occasionally code invoices and sets up new accountsReconciles accounts and helps close the monthly booksReconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banksReconciles company credit cards monthly, monitors spending dailyReconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accountsProvides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual auditResponsible for the creation of sales orders within SAP and daily communication with program management team on project statusFiles tax forms with federal, state, and local government agenciesCo-manages the purchasing and invoicing systemMaintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and proceduresResponsibilities may increase in scope to align with company initiativesPerforms other related duties as assignedRequired Skills And AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailKnowledge of general financial accounting and cost accountingUnderstanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principlesAbility to correctly prepare month end financial statementsExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesCommunicates effectively and maintains productive relationships with coworkers, clients, and other contacts outside the companyDemonstrates the ability to collaborate and work in cross-functional teamsAccepts feedback from a variety of sources and constructively manages conflictAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environmentProficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and ERP management experienceEducation And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, requiredAt least three years of related experience requiredWorking knowledge of SAP preferredPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at timesAdheres to consistent and predictable in-person attendanceVisit https://www.seranbio.com/careers to learn more about company culture and the community of Bend, Oregon.Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Benefits Summary:Serán employees accrue over four weeks of paid time off annually.
