Middle School Science and Innovation Lab Teacher

HWIS is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to join a team of talented teachers in a preschool to Grade 8 immersion program. The focus of the position is STEM in upper elementary and middle school grades.Major ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver project-based learning (PBL) units that incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.Develop and lead the creation of an Innovation Lab that develops 21st century skills of early engineering, coding, and digital designDevelop and lead a robotics team including after school and weekend programmingInspire student interest in science and math exploration in contests and internshipsUses instructional practices that foster learning for all students by practicing differentiation.Effectively and positively manages the classroomMaintains positive and frequent communication with parentsIs actively involved in the school community, participating in school co-curricular activities, events, professional development meetings, etc.QualificationsMaster’s degree in elementary education with a focus on science or related field4+ years teaching middle school science in independent schools in NY/NJ area2-3 year's experience developing design and innovation labs, and using coding platforms, and makerspace equipment2 year's experience leading a robotics teamExcellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and classroom management skillsStrong technology skills, including internet, MS office, use of technology in classroom necessaryExperience with language Immersion environment a plusMandarin or Spanish language skills a plusTeacher Certification in appropriate subject area preferredPlease send a resume and cover letter to hr@hwis.org with ”Middle School Science and Innovation Lab Teacher” in the subject.HudsonWay Immersion School (HWIS) is a preschool 2’s through Grade 8 Mandarin and Spanish Immersion School founded over 20 years ago in the NJ/NY area.
