Financial Accountant (FP&A-Focused) (Chicago)
A growing professional services firm in Chicago is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team. This role is heavily focused on FP&A with additional exposure to general accounting making it ideal for someone who enjoys financial analysis, modeling, and strategic reporting while maintaining a strong accounting foundation.Key Details:Title: Financial Accountant (FP&A Focus) – Direct HireLocation: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3–4 days onsite)Salary: $90k-$110k + bonusPosition Type: PermanentPrimary Responsibilities:Lead and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling (FP&A)Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportsCreate and post journal entries and maintain accurate financial recordsPerform general ledger account reconciliations and account analysisPrepare complex schedules and financial reporting packagesAssist with month-end and year-end close processesSupport cash flow analysis and reconciliation activitiesMaintain the fixed asset system and related reportingAssist with financial audits and provide supporting documentationPerform ad hoc reporting and financial analysis for leadershipSupport payroll processing and related reporting tasksEnsure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable activitiesAssist with SOX compliance and internal controlsSupport preparation of federal and state tax filingsMonitor and review inventory-related transactionsCollaborate cross-functionally and communicate financial insights to stakeholdersQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMinimum 5+ years of general accounting and/or FP&A experienceStrong experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelingPrior experience within a professional services environment highly preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills (financial modeling, data analysis, reporting)Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principlesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsHighly detail-oriented with strong analytical abilitiesAbility to handle confidential information with discretionBenefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
