Works closely with other departments to ensure continuity in Engineering, Operations, Quality and Safety.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the generation of new pricing proposals, with new and existing customersTake an active role in growing new business by continual training and evaluation of new technology, and optimization of the estimating processIdentify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and partsProvide technical expertise or support to manufacturing and qualityIncorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operationsConfer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project statusConsult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specificationsPresent and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clientsPerform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or servicesAnalyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projectsDevelop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the Engineering and technical work performed in the Engineering Department?Selects, develops, trains, and supervises Engineering staff (Estimating & Engineering)Sets annual departmental/individual goals, and measure progress throughout the yearSupports the selection of correct manufacturing processes, technologies and equipment used for new productsSupport and enforce the NPI processSupport budgeting efforts (Labor, Equipment, OH)RequirementsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of 2 years of industry experience in a high-volume manufacturing environmentStrong experience supporting or improving manufacturing processes involving:Turning lathesMilling operationsSwiss-style machiningExperience implementing measurable process improvements related to machining, throughput, quality, setup reduction, scrap reduction, or operational efficiencyWorking knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and process control methodologies (Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis, etc.)Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints; GD&T experience preferredWorking knowledge of LEAN principlesWorkflow analysis skillsExperience with high volume manufacturingMust have strong project planning and management skills to prioritize tasks and establish framework and systems for managing areas of responsibilityAbility to work in a multi-functional team environmentSkills in 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)Knowledge of ISO 9001 a plusSupervisory or engineering leadership experience preferredExcellent organizational skillsPossess well-developed and demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and project management skillsSelf-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervisionEDUCATIONBachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering preferredMay substitute 7+ years related experience in lieu of degree or equivalent combinationLOCATIONOnsiteSCHEDULEM-FWORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration.
