Sterile Processing Technician Supervisor

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, assembly of linen packs, operation of steam, ETO and other forms of sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment and performs multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Extensive knowledge regarding processes used in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical material to include, but not limited to, linen, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materialsPrepares trays for designated areas according to prescribed proceduresWraps and/or packages items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for designated areasMust be able to operate bar code instrument tracking systemWorks with operating room personnel to ensure specialty trays are handled in the prescribed mannerDissembles, cleans, assembles and tests specialty instrumentation and equipment for proper functioningMust be able to differentiate between single-use and reusable itemsMaintains inventory of supplies and materials to include documenting usage, issuing, receiving and reordering as assignedAdheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent?Certification as required by state regulations or contract specifications?Certification for sterile processing technicians by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) may be requiredOne (1) year of experience in sterile processing preferred?Complies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
