Stage Technician Trainee (Seasonal, Part-time)

Position SummaryThe Stage Technician Trainee is a seasonal, part-time role designed to develop the next generation of Flyspace stage professionals. Trainees will work alongside our experienced Stage Technicians to support the operation, setup, maintenance, and teardown of the Stageline Mobile Stage Fleet and related production equipment.Flyspace will invest in structured training on our stage systems, workflows, safety protocols, and operational standards. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in mobile stage operations, warehouse preparation, and live event execution. High-performing trainees may be sponsored to pursue Stageline stage operation certification as appropriate.At the conclusion of the season, three to four of the strongest performers will be offered full-time, year-round positions with full benefits, creating a long-term growth pathway within the organization.Work will primarily occur at our warehouse on Pittsburgh’s Northside, as well as at event locations throughout the region.Program GoalsBuild a deeper bench of capable, safety-focused technicians during peak monthsDevelop trainees into certified, operationally proficient stage techniciansIdentify and retain top performers for long-term employmentEssential Duties And ResponsibilitiesTraining & Skill DevelopmentParticipate in structured training on Stageline mobile stage systems and Flyspace operational workflowsLearn proper ballasting, weight distribution, and temporary structure safety fundamentalsDevelop proficiency with tools, equipment, and vehicles under supervisionFollow all OSHA, Stageline, and Flyspace safety protocols and PPE requirementsDemonstrate willingness to learn, ask questions, and accept feedbackEvent Setup & Teardown SupportAssist with setup, operation, and teardown of mobile stages and production infrastructureSupport staging, rigging, and equipment deployment under supervisionFollow technical plans and instructions provided by Lead Technicians and Operations ManagerAssist with loading/unloading trucks and organizing gear for projectsEquipment Preparation & MaintenanceHelp clean, inspect, and prepare stages and production equipmentSupport equipment organization and staging for upcoming projectsMonitor equipment usage on-site to ensure safe handlingReport equipment issues to leadershipWarehouse & Fleet SupportAssist with routine maintenance of mobile stages and production equipmentSupport packing/unpacking and inventory managementMaintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse spacesTeamwork & Professional ConductWork collaboratively with Supervisors, Technicians, and event crewsCommunicate clearly and professionally on job sitesRepresent Flyspace’s values of professionalism, quality, and safety at all timesMaintain punctuality and reliability throughout the seasonWork ScheduleThis is a seasonal, part-time position with hours based on event demand during peak months.Includes weekends, evenings, overnight hours, and some holidaysWorkdays may exceed 10 hours during eventsRegional travel required; occasional overnight stays possibleQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferredMust be 18 years of age or olderValid driver’s license preferred (clean driving record strongly encouraged)Reliable transportation to and from worksitesAbility to pass background screening and obtain Act 153 ClearancesNo prior stage experience required — willingness to learn is essentialCompetencies (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)Strong work ethic and positive attitudeMechanical aptitude or technical curiosity preferredAbility to lift 50+ pounds regularlyAbility to climb ladders (4’–16’) and operate lifts (training provided)Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditionsAbility to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a teamStrong communication and time management skillsCommitment to safety and professionalismGrowth & Advancement OpportunityFlyspace plans to hire up to ten Stage Technician Trainees for the season.
