Labor and Employment Associate Attorney

The New York office of Akerman LLP is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate with 2 to 4 years of employment defense experience to join the firm's nationally recognized and well-established labor and employment practice. The ideal candidate will have meaningful labor and employment litigation experience before courts, arbitrators, mediators and government agencies, along with excellent research, writing and analytical skills. We are seeking an intellectually curious attorney who is eager to deepen their understanding of employment law, learn business development skills, and provide practical, strategic counsel to large employers on complex and rapidly evolving labor and employment issues. Responsibilities will include: attending and conducting witness interviews; handling case investigations; drafting position statements, pleadings and litigation motions; and preparing critical personnel documents, such as employment and separation agreements. Candidates should demonstrate a strong sense of ownership over cases and assignments, an "owner's mentality" in client communications and relationship management, and a genuine interest in building a long-term career with the team. Must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and be a member of the New York State Bar. This position offers remote and hybrid work arrangements. While preference will be given to candidates based in New York, exceptional candidates in other locations where Akerman has offices will be considered.Annual base salary: $220,000 - $265,000.
