Our next team member will diligently prepare for settlement conferences and be able to articulately defend clients at contested hearings in front of licensing boards as well as state agencies. Some experience is desired, but not required.Attorneys must possess patience when interacting with clients and must assist clients in preparation for settlement conferences and contested case hearings, as well as any interviews with investigators.This job will necessitate you being in the courtroom and litigating cases. Which means you need to feel confident and comfortable in this environment. If you like the competitive nature of trial work, then you will have plenty of opportunities.Compensation:$78,000 - $100,000 yearly plus discretionary quarterly bonus Responsibilities:Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficientlyDraft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiationsMaintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staffPerform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneysAnalyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clientsQuality Client experience is a huge part of the firm's cultureIf you like to expand your legal knowledge in an underserved legal area, then please applyWill be the lead attorney on cases after proper training and proving yourself after a set probationary periodResearch issues related to clients' casesAttend hearings in front of various licensing entities, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, state agencies, and professional licensing boardsAttend settlement conferences with various licensing entities, including the Office of Administrative Hearings, state agencies, and professional licensing boardsAttend meetings with Board and Agency investigatorsDraft and file legal documents (pleadings, motions, etc.)Come up with legal theories for clients' cases and execute plans for hearings and settlement conferencesCommunicate with clients; if you like to communicate with clients or go the extra mile to make the client happy, then please apply Qualifications:Willingness to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client baseHas a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law schoolActive membership with the American Bar Association (ABA)Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar examSolid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneysA J.D. degree and an active law license in North Carolina are requiredDisplay excellent written, problem-solving, and verbal communication skillsHistory of being deadline-driven and extremely organizedCourtroom experience is preferred, but not requiredExperience in professional licensing/administrative law matters is preferred but not requiredProficient in basic computer software and can quickly learn to use new programsSelf-starter able to work independently and adhere to the firm's policy and procedure manualExperience with cloud-based technology, specifically Google Drive & law xmcpwfu firm management software, to name a few, is requiredThe ability to work as a member of a team is necessaryThe use of a calendar and a task management system is requiredThe ability to use meeting software, like 'Zoom', 'Google Meet', and 'Microsoft Teams', is requiredMust have a valid driver's licenseThere will be some work in Superior Court via appeals of agency/board decisions and other professional license-related matters About CompanyWe believe in making sure clients are a good fit for our team members and have a client grading system in place to ensure clients fit well with our teamWe believe in working as a collaborative team, and you will have support from other team members to get the best results for clients as possibleWe believe in the value of a hybrid work environment to assist team members in balancing their prioritiesThe first sixty days, while we are getting to know one another, will be in the office so we can determine the best hybrid schedule for your situationClient billing is on a flat fee basis, so you will not have to worry about meeting a set hourly billing goalWe believe in having measurable data in order to determine success in each of our roles to accomplish the goals of clients and the firm
