Job Title: Commercial Construction Project ManagerJob SummaryThe Commercial Construction Project Manager oversees all phases of commercial construction projects—from pre-construction planning through closeout—ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to quality and safety standards. This role involves coordinating with clients, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams across multiple projects in the Houston area.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage multiple commercial construction projects (e.g., office buildings, retail, healthcare, industrial)Develop project plans, schedules, and budgetsCoordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants during design and pre-construction phasesSolicit bids, negotiate contracts, and manage subcontractors and vendorsMonitor construction progress and adjust schedules or resources as neededEnsure compliance with local building codes, permits, and regulationsConduct site visits and attend progress meetingsManage project budgets, track costs, and approve invoicesIdentify and mitigate risks, resolving issues quickly to avoid delaysEnsure adherence to safety standards and company policiesCommunicate regularly with clients and stakeholders, providing status updatesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)5–10+ years of experience in commercial construction project managementStrong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systemsExperience managing projects in sectors like retail, office, multifamily, or industrialProficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project)Familiarity with Houston-area permitting and inspection processesSkills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and team coordinationBudgeting and cost control expertiseExcellent communication and negotiation skillsProblem-solving and decision-making ability under pressureTime management and organizational skillsKnowledge of OSHA safety regulationsPreferred CertificationsPMP (Project Management Professional)CCM (Certified Construction Manager)OSHA 30 CertificationWork EnvironmentCombination of office and on-site workFrequent travel between job sites in the Houston metro areaMay require extended hours to meet project deadlinesSalary Range (Houston Market)Typically $100,000– $140,000+ annuallySenior-level or large-project PMs can exceed $150,000Bonuses and profit-sharing are commonEmployers / IndustriesGeneral contractorsCommercial developersDesign-build firmsReal estate development companies
